3 courses in this 4.5 month program
Course 1 of 3
Traction Motor Design
Overview
In this course, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the various types of motors used in EVs today, including PMSM, SyncRM, IM, and SRM. You’ll learn how these motors function compared to traditional internal combustion engines, and explore potential issues associated with EVs, including heating issues, demagnetization, and more.
Course 2 of 3
Design and Fabrication of power converters
Overview
In this course, you’ll explore the key design elements of a high-speed motor for increased power density and gain insight into the techniques required to optimize for performance. You'll also learn how inverters are utilized for motor drive applications and build familiarity with various types of inverters, gate drivers, and more.
Course 3 of 3
Motor Drives and Thermal Design
Overview
In this course, you’ll learn about various types of motor drive controllers, controller architecture, and firmware development. You'll also work on a simulation exercise and get an introduction to available simulation platforms, and then create a simulation to test your design in real-time.
